    The VSG24 ECHO PLUS 8-sensor combo kit is designed for cars, vans and motorhomes and reliably supports vehicles up to 12 metres in overall length. With four sensors at the front and four at the rear, it monitors the full vehicle perimeter, which is a real safety upgrade for long vehicles and limited visibility situations. The system runs on a 12-volt electrical supply and is therefore universally compatible with all brands and models. Thanks to the long sensor cables (8 metres per sensor, separable and shorten-able) and the 15-metre display lead, it can be routed neatly even in large vehicles without makeshift extensions.

    Full-length coverage for confident manoeuvres.
    The LED display shows the distance for each individual sensor separately. This means you don’t just get a generic “something is close” alert—you can see whether the obstacle is front-left, front-right, rear-centre or toward an outer section. When the distance becomes critical, the display automatically changes colour from blue to orange to highlight the risk instantly. At the same time, an audible warning with adjustable volume supports you, so you can still react safely even if you’re not staring at the display. This combination is especially valuable on long vehicles where judging distance by feel is much harder.
    Quick check: move a box near each sensor area and confirm the distance bars/numbers and colour shift react logically.
    Clear visuals that make manoeuvres easier.
    The sensors detect distances from 30 to 150 cm. This range is ideal for parking and manoeuvring because it warns early enough to react, while staying precise in close quarters. On long vehicles, the “final metre” is often the most critical: bollards, walls, kerbs and low obstacles are easy to underestimate—especially at the front. With 8 sensors covering front and rear, you get significantly better area coverage, including the corners, not just the centre line.

    Confidence when the last metre matters most.
    The system follows a simple logic: power first, control wires second. Black is ground (negative) and must be connected to vehicle chassis ground. Red is ignition power 12V+ and provides the base supply whenever the ignition is on; this red wire must not be connected to the reverse light or the brake pedal circuit. Yellow is the control/trigger wire for the front four sensors: when yellow receives 12V+, the front sensors switch on; when it’s disconnected, the front stays active for about 20 seconds and then turns off automatically. Blue is the control/trigger wire for the entire system: when blue receives 12V+, both front and rear activate; when it’s disconnected, the whole system runs on for about 20 seconds and then shuts down. Important: yellow and blue will only behave correctly once red and black are already connected and supplying power/ground properly.
    Quick check: connect red and black first and confirm stable power, then connect yellow and/or blue depending on the activation method you want.
    A wiring layout that makes setup straightforward.
    If you want the entire system to activate automatically when you select reverse, connect the blue trigger wire to the reverse light 12V+. This makes the system switch on during reversing. The behaviour is defined: activation occurs once reverse has been engaged for at least 7 seconds, and after you leave reverse the system remains active for about 20 seconds before switching off automatically. This is useful because after reversing you often still roll a little to straighten the vehicle. In this configuration, red (ignition power) and black (ground) provide the base supply, while blue handles automatic activation.
    Quick check: test reverse briefly and then for longer than 7 seconds, and confirm the 20-second run-on time after leaving reverse.
    Automatic activation that supports real-world reversing.
    The yellow trigger wire is designed for separate control of the front four sensors. When yellow receives 12V+, the front sensors switch on; when the voltage is removed, the front section stays active for about 20 seconds and then turns off automatically. A common setup is connecting yellow to the brake light: whenever you press the brake, the front sensors activate and remain on for about 20 seconds after you release it. This is useful when creeping forward toward bollards, walls or tight spaces. Because this method can activate the front sensors frequently, many users reduce the volume or mute the sound to avoid constant beeping in slow traffic situations.
    Quick check: connect yellow as chosen, press the brake to activate, then release and confirm the ~20-second run-on for the front sensors.
    On-demand front protection for precise positioning.
    The switch significantly expands your control options, and there are two common use cases. First, you can use the switch to control the entire system by routing the blue wire to the switch’s centre pin. In that setup, you turn the whole system on and off whenever you need it; after switching off, it runs on for about 20 seconds. Second, you can use the switch to control only the front sensors on demand: you route the yellow wire through the switch while the blue wire stays connected to the reverse light for automatic reversing activation. The result is very practical: when you select reverse, both front and rear activate automatically, and when you’re moving forward you can manually switch on the front sensors only when needed, for example when creeping toward tight obstacles. This is particularly useful for large vehicles because it avoids constant front-sensor activity but still gives instant control when required.
    Quick check: decide whether the switch controls blue (whole system) or yellow (front only), toggle it, and confirm the ~20-second run-on behaviour after switching off.
    User-controlled operation for professional manoeuvring.
    Each sensor is supplied with an 8-metre cable that can be separated or shortened. This length is designed for large vehicles and must not be exceeded. Extending a sensor cable beyond 8 metres can lead to signal loss, malfunctions or unreliable detection. That’s why cable routing should be planned so the included length is sufficient and neatly installed without additional extensions.
    Quick check: estimate the path from each sensor to the control unit and make sure each run stays within 8 metres.
    Correct cable length for dependable performance.
    Yes. You can operate the system partially if you want to install only the front four sensors or only the rear four sensors first. It’s also technically possible to use fewer than four sensors per bumper. However, for the best obstacle coverage—especially at the corners—using all four sensors per area is recommended. If you expand later, you can add sensors without changing the basic concept.

    Yes, the system is car-wash compatible and built for continuous outdoor use. With motorhomes and vans—especially those that sit for longer periods or face changing weather—checking the sensor faces occasionally is a simple habit that keeps the system dependable.

    Built for the road, ready for real conditions.
    You can adjust the volume directly on the display. There is a control button that lets you cycle through volume levels or mute the sound with short presses. This is especially useful if you run the front sensors via the yellow wire (brake-based activation) and the system is frequently active, or if you operate in situations where constant beeps would be annoying. The visual distance display remains active, so you still get clear information even when the sound is reduced or turned off.

    Sound control that fits your routine.
    A faulty sensor is uncommon, but it can be checked quickly and systematically. Start by disconnecting all sensors from the control box except one. Then activate the system using the blue wire (full system) or the yellow wire (front area), depending on which zone you want to test. If the system responds normally, disconnect that sensor and test the next one individually. The sensor that immediately triggers a fault signal or shows a constant maximum alert is likely the cause. Once identified, you can contact customer support to arrange the next steps without unnecessary dismantling.
    In short: connect one sensor at a time, activate the system, note the result, and move on to the next until you find the source.
